Where does a person’s passion come from? What you love? What you want to do with the rest of your life? Your creativity? Your talents? Where does it all stem from? It’s something I’ve wondered about all my life. I feel like I was born with my talents. And yet at a young age, I was pushed, so to speak. I was told that if there was something I wanted to do, I should do it. I think the real answer would be that everything is inspired by experience. Let me give you an example. We see a log roll down a hill. We watch it roll. We then take the concept of "roll" and invent the wheel. There’s your creativity. We observe the roll and then apply it in a new manner.

You know, with creativity there are labels. I don’t like labels. When you go out and you are chatting up someone, what is one of the first things you might use as a chat up line? What do you do? See, labels. I’m an actor. I’m a musician. I’m a photographer. I’m a choreographer. I’m an artist. I don’t like labels. Labels shouldn’t define a person. I do what I like, but am I what I do? I like rock and roll. Does that make me a screamer? I have an idea for a song now, I should write that down.

See, my thing is music. Always has been. My brother lovingly labels me a music snob. I don’t like the term, but in some ways it fits. Music has power. Music is autobiographical. There are great songs that mean something when you're sixteen, lose their power when you grow older, then change meaning altogether as you become twenty eight. Music is the lover who you learn from. You’re uncertain until someone comes along and changes the way that you think, like a Velvet Underground album. Or it scares you. It confuses you. The song is good, but you’re not sure why. It’s not where the song charts or how many records it sells. It’s the feeling, the vibe of the music.

The songs change as you change. You can’t put your finger on what it is. You can’t quantify it with words. That is music. So yes, if I’m very picky about the music I listen to, so be it.

If you made it through all of that and you're still reading, I'm impressed. Food for thought, people. Food for thought.
